There are only about a handful of experiences more painful than that of an unrequited love. It’s like two people staring at the same cloud, but seeing different things. On the one hand, you see an image of peace and beauty, a true masterpiece in the sky, and on the other hand, they just see a cloud. I don’t think it has to be all bad, and you definitely shouldn’t beat up about it. What you had, whatever you saw, no matter how far away from the truth, was still something, and that something should still be cherished. Robert Collier once said, “In every adversity, lies the seed of an equivalent advantage.” Perhaps in every unrequited love, lies the possibility for a good friendship, and in-turn, possibly the seed of a love that’s yet to spawn. Dust yourself off and keep going.
